St. Thomas, The Apostle Syro Malabar Parish, Brisbane South, established in May 2015 under the Syro Malabar Eparchy of St. Thomas the Apostle, Melbourne. Currently, the parish has a membership of 300 families migrated from Kerala, India and they are residing in and around Brisbane South. Our parish is a congregation of a thousand members including adults, youths and children. Recently, the parish has purchased a property with a church close to Browns Plains Queensland (108-112 Middle Rd. Hillcrest), which will help a growing community like us to conduct various cultural and religious programs. We are also planning to develop the property as a hub for spiritual and charitable activities in the future.
This year we conducted Santhom Multicultural Festival on 26th May 2018 at the St Thomas the Apostle Syro Malabar Catholic Church property. It was a great event with a massive number of people participating in it.
There were approximately 2000 people came and enjoyed this Multi-Cultural event. The celebrations were including dance and other cultural performances from different ethnicities like Chinese, African, Samoan, Tongan, Australian and various communities of India. Delicious south Indian and other multi-cuisine food also were available on sale to replenish the energy for more dance, fun and play. The entry was free of cost.
We blessed with the presence of many dignitaries and spiritual leaders from surrounding communities.
